Notes: Our Thanksgiving Feast
This year I give thanks for my family’s health, teachers, healthcare workers, military service members and veterans, state parks, the farmers that feed us, and my dog Roxie (stress relief!). I’m also thankful for all of you readers out there. This website is a labor of love for food and the environment and I enjoy putting this information out into the world.
How do you celebrate Thanksgiving? It is all about tradition in my family. You will find every classic on the table plus more. It is only our immediate family this year, but I am still going all out with turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce (Wisconsin produces 60% of the cranberry supply in the US!), brussels sprouts and kale salad, pumpkin pie and apple pie.
We’ll be eating leftovers for days and when the turkey is reaching its end of life, the bones are used to make homemade soup. With the focus on food and family, Thanksgiving is truly my favorite holiday!
