Notes: Yes I know, I’m repeating the burgers from last week. In my defense there is just too much baseball going on right now and I know the burgers are super easy to get done before the action. I also want to be totally honest about what we are actually eating every day. Unless we are on vacation or out of town for the day, I will be sure to share with you an exact replica of what we are eating for the week. If we are gone, then you will see something I made up so I don’t leave you in a lurch if you need ideas. This week, the fruit salad and veggies can be prepared in advance. The tossed salad can be used twice if you make it large enough. Also, the chicken chili is a slow cooker meal that I call a “dump, dump, dump” meal because it is mostly made from all things that you can just open and dump in the Crock Pot. I don’t usually like using canned things, but sometimes you just have to in order to keep your life moving. Omit any bread and just eat the meat (or avocado) if you want to keep it low carb.
GLP tip of the week: a little while back I posted this about what I use for cleaning my home. Spoiler alert – it’s usually vinegar. But I know there are not a lot of huge fans of the vinegar smell. I don’t mind it since the vinegar deodorizes and the smell dissipates quickly, but I know many others do. One thing I have started doing is throwing my used citrus peels in a mason jar and then filling the jar with vinegar. The one in the picture below has both lemons and oranges and has been sitting for almost a week. My youngest wanted to open it up today, so we did, and the smell surprised me since it was mostly citrus and only a bit of the vinegar smell. I plan to use some of it straight for disinfecting and dilute the rest with water for everyday cleaning. I’m sure this would work well with limes or grapefruit too. Very easy, almost no cost, and no plastic bottles purchased.
